A quick and comforting Irish Ground Beef & Cabbage recipe that’s perfect for a weeknight meal. Packed with flavor and comes together in about 30 minutes.

- 1 tablespoon olive oil or other cooking oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/2 head of green cabbage (about 4–5 cups), thinly sliced or shredded
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned. Drain excess fat.
- 2. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 4-5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary; cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper.
- 3. Add thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard (if using). Stir to combine.
- 4. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until cabbage is tender. Stir occasionally.
- 5. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat on the stovetop with a splash of liquid or in the microwave.
