- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
- â…“ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely diced (about ½ cup)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- 1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, diced onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix gently until just combined.
- 2. Form into 4-6 oval patties about ¾-inch thick. Make slight indentation in center of each.
- 3. Cook patties in large skillet over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (160°F internal temperature). Remove and keep warm.
- 4. Add olive oil and mushrooms to same skillet. Cook 5-6 minutes until mushrooms brown.
- 5. Add sliced onion and cook 4-5 minutes until softened.
- 6. Sprinkle flour over vegetables, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
- 7. Gradually add beef broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and thyme.
- 8. Return patties to skillet, cover, and simmer 10-15 minutes.
- 9. Adjust seasoning and garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat gently with splash of broth if needed.
