Description

A one-pan dinner featuring ground beef, peppers, onions, and melted cheese that captures all the flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 2 large bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. 2. Cook onions for 5-7 minutes until softened and lightly browned.
  3. 3. Add bell peppers and cook 5 minutes until beginning to soften.
  4. 4. Add mushrooms and cook 3-4 minutes until browned.
  5. 5. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. 6. Push vegetables aside and add ground beef, cooking 3-4 minutes undisturbed.
  7. 7. Break up beef and cook 6-8 minutes until browned throughout.
  8. 8. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and paprika.
  9. 9. Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, simmer 2-3 minutes.
  10. 10. Reduce heat, add cream cheese and stir until melted.
  11. 11. Top with provolone cheese, cover, and let melt 2-3 minutes.
  12. 12. Rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers up to 4 days refrigerated. Reheat gently in skillet with splash of broth if needed.
