Description
A quick and delicious one-pan dinner featuring savory ground meat, tender potatoes, and a rich, creamy sauce. This easy recipe is ready in just 30 minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, turkey, or pork)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (Yukon Gold or red potatoes work well)
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, plus more to taste
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground meat and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- 2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 3. Add the cubed potatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir everything to coat the potatoes evenly.
- 4. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and let it cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 5. Uncover the skillet and stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Cook, stirring, until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 3-5 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- 6. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, before serving.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, gently warm the skillet contents on the stovetop over low heat, stirring occasionally. You may need to add a splash of broth or milk if the sauce has thickened too much.
