Description

A comforting and flavorful Garlic Parmesan Bowtie Pasta with Creamy Beef recipe that’s perfect for weeknight dinners. Loaded with savory ground beef and coated in a rich, creamy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 12 ounces bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of generously salted water to a boil. Add the bowtie pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water before draining.
  2. 2. Brown the beef: While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. 3. Sauté aromatics: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the browned beef and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. 4. Build the sauce: Pour in the undrained diced tomatoes and beef broth. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  5. 5. Simmer and thicken: Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  6. 6. Add cream and cheese: Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Continue to stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  7. 7. Season: Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  8. 8. Combine: Add the drained bowtie pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water, a tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.
  9. 9. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of milk or water to loosen the sauce if needed, or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each.
