Description

Transform a simple baked sweet potato into a delightful treat with this straightforward recipe for Fluffy Cinnamon Butter Baked Sweet Potato. Infused with warm cinnamon and rich butter, it’s a comforting and wholesome dish perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes (about 810 ounces each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for serving
  • Optional: a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts for added texture

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. 2. Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly and prick them several times with a fork.
  3. 3. Place sweet potatoes directly on the oven rack (with a baking sheet below to catch drips) and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until tender.
  4. 4. While potatoes bake, combine softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small bowl until well mixed.
  5. 5. Once tender, carefully remove sweet potatoes from oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
  6. 6. Slice each sweet potato lengthwise, but not all the way through, and gently press sides to open and fluff.
  7. 7. Spoon cinnamon butter mixture into the opening of each sweet potato.
  8. 8. Mash the butter into the fluffy potato flesh with a fork.
  9. 9. Optionally, drizzle with honey/maple syrup and sprinkle with nuts before serving.

Notes

Store cooled baked sweet potatoes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently in the oven at 350°F (175°C) or microwave until warmed through. You may want to add a tiny bit more butter before reheating to restore moisture.
