Description
A simple and delicious Creamy Ranch Chicken recipe perfect for a weeknight meal. Tender chicken breasts are simmered in a rich, savory ranch-infused cream sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 packet (1 ounce) dry ranch seasoning mix
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Optional garnishes: fresh parsley, shredded cheese (cheddar, Parmesan, or Monterey Jack)
Instructions
- 1. Pat chicken dry and season with salt and pepper. Slice thick breasts in half horizontally if needed.
- 2. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove chicken and set aside.
- 3. Reduce heat to medium. Add softened cream cheese to the skillet and stir until melted.
- 4. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and milk until smooth. Scrape up browned bits from the bottom.
- 5. Add ranch seasoning mix and whisk until well combined.
- 6. Bring sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- 7. Nestle chicken back into the skillet and spoon sauce over the top.
- 8. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (165°F internal temperature).
- 9. Let chicken rest in sauce for 5 minutes before serving. Adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat with a splash of milk or broth, or in the microwave, stirring halfway through. Avoid high heat to maintain sauce texture and chicken tenderness.
