Description

Creamy and cheesy scalloped potatoes layered with thin slices of potatoes, baked to perfection.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped green onions or herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter, ensuring it covers the bottom well.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, arranging them evenly.
  4. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese to build layers.
  6. Pour the milk evenly over the layered potatoes.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with green onions or herbs if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

Allow the dish to rest for 5 minutes before serving to hold its shape.
