Description
Delicious ground beef cheesesteaks loaded with caramelized onions, peppers, and melted provolone cheese, perfect for a quick family meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced onions and bell peppers, sauté for about 3–5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them after the peppers and onions and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push the vegetables to the side, add ground beef, and break it apart with a spatula. Cook until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing for about 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture, cover with a lid, and let it melt for about 2–3 minutes.
- Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise and spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll. Optionally, toast rolls before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with homemade fries or a side salad. To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 3–4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven to retain crunch.
