- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
- 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef until it loses its pink hue. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced onion, dried thyme, parsley, salt, and red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir until the onions are tender and fragrant.
- Transfer the beef mixture to the slow cooker and layer it with the chopped cabbage.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the petite diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Mix well.
- Pour the sauce over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker and gently mix the layers.
- Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 to 8 hours.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding balsamic vinegar to the sauce mixture or throw in cooked rice or quinoa for a heartier meal.
