Description

A comforting and hearty slow cooker dish filled with savory beef, fresh vegetables, and rich flavors, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef until it loses its pink hue. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion, dried thyme, parsley, salt, and red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir until the onions are tender and fragrant.
  3. Transfer the beef mixture to the slow cooker and layer it with the chopped cabbage.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the petite diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Mix well.
  5. Pour the sauce over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker and gently mix the layers.
  6. Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 to 8 hours.

Notes

For added flavor, consider adding balsamic vinegar to the sauce mixture or throw in cooked rice or quinoa for a heartier meal.
