Ingredients

  • 150 grams (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 100 ml (½ cup) water
  • 100 ml (½ cup) milk
  • 80 grams (â…“ cup) butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 500 ml (2 cups) milk (for custard filling)
  • 150 grams (¾ cup) sugar (for custard filling)
  • 100 grams (1 cup) all-purpose flour (for custard filling)
  • 2 large eggs (for custard filling)
  • 180 grams (¾ cup) butter (for custard filling)
  • Icing sugar or your favorite garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 150 grams of flour, 100 ml of water, 100 ml of milk, and 80 grams of melted butter with 4 large eggs. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and ½ teaspoon of salt, stirring until fully incorporated.
  4. In a saucepan, heat 500 ml of milk with 150 grams of sugar over low heat until sugar dissolves, then mix in 100 grams of flour blended with 2 large eggs to create a smooth custard.
  5. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  6. Pour the custard filling over the baked base, then top with the remaining cake batter.
  7. Bake for another 30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let cool and dust with icing sugar before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. Consider adding vanilla extract or melted chocolate for added flavor.
