Description

A comforting creamy chicken and gravy dish made effortlessly in the slow cooker, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  • 3 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 teaspoons chicken base or bouillon
  • 10.5 oz can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In the slow cooker, whisk together the chicken base, cream of chicken soup, and water until smooth.
  2. Gently place the chicken breasts into the sauce and sprinkle your seasoning blend generously over the top.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  4. Once done, shred the chicken with two forks.
  5. Mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of cold water to create a slurry. Add this to the slow cooker and turn the setting to high for 15-20 minutes, until it bubbles and thickens.
  6. Turn off the heat and stir in the sour cream, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve over rice, noodles, buns, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

For best flavor, never skip the chicken base. Adjust seasoning to taste when reheating leftovers.
