Description

Buttery soft and crisp, these Christmas Tree Shortbread Sticks are a festive delight perfect for sharing with family during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Green and red sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
  • 1 tablespoon icing sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  2. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and salt.
  4. Slowly add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Gather the dough into a rectangle shape, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
  8. Cut the dough into strips or use a tree-shaped cookie cutter.
  9. Place pieces on the baking sheet with space in between and sprinkle decorations on top, if desired.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden on the edges.
  11. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with icing sugar if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months separated by parchment paper.
