Description

A comforting one-pot meal featuring tender orzo pasta, savory chicken sausage, and vibrant broccoli, ready in just 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken sausage (sliced)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until browned.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Stir in the orzo, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
  5. Cover the pot and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally until orzo is tender and most of the liquid has absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For an even creamier finish, consider stirring in a splash of heavy cream before serving. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
