A simple and satisfying boiled cabbage recipe that is perfect for busy nights.
Ingredients

- 2 lb cabbage (1 medium head)
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Rinse the cabbage and remove any damaged outer leaves.
- Cut the cabbage in half, then slice each half into three wedges or quarters for shredding.
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, bring the water and salt to a boil over medium-high heat.
- For wedges, simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway, until tender but crisp.
- For shredded cabbage, simmer uncovered for 3–5 minutes until tender.
- Carefully remove the cabbage from the pot, discard the water, and return it to the pan.
- Add butter and pepper, stir well, and serve.
Notes
Serve with roasted meats or grilled dishes. For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan on top or drizzle with balsamic reduction.
