Description

Fresh and vibrant beef lettuce wraps that are easy to make and packed with flavor, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion (minced)
  • 1 (8-ounce) can water chestnuts (drained and minced)
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 2 garlic cloves (grated)
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Green onions (thinly sliced)
  • Crushed peanuts
  • Butter lettuce (or Bibb lettuce or iceberg lettuce)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients until well combined and smooth.
  2. Heat olive oil in a medium frying pan over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add ground beef and onions, cooking until browned and onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the water chestnuts and the sauce, simmering on low heat until thickened and heated through, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Serve beef filling on lettuce leaves topped with green onions and crushed peanuts.

Notes

Serve immediately for the best texture. Store leftover filling and lettuce separately to avoid sogginess.
